Exmouth Gig Rowing Regatta

gigclublogocroppedOn Saturday 9th June Exmouth Pilot Gig Club held it’s inaugural regatta. Each of the 9 clubs in The Jurassic League, which extends from Poole in the east to Exmouth in the West, hold their own regattas during the summer with points being gained for all the races competed in. The overall winner being declared at the end of the season.

In near perfect conditions, teams from seven clubs including Sidmouth, Bridport, Langstone and Poole raced a long course which started beyond the Exe buoy and finished opposite the Sea Shore Ice Creamery. Most of the races were won by a very strong Bridport club. However, Exmouth teams performed well in all of the races with the best being saved till the last race which saw our mixed A team come 3rd in Shelley Maid. EPGC would like to extend a special thank you to Exmouth NCI and Calland’s Budgens for helping to make the day the success that it was.
