Another New Watchkeeper
Congratulations and welcome to Graham Green who becomes our latest watchkeeper, continuing the good start to 2018, with more to come. It must be the sunshine and the sea air!!
Congratulations to Gill Bates who has completed her assessment to add to the roll of new watchkeepers in 2018 - welcome!!
Exmouth NCI celebrated their 20th anniversary yesterday at their ‘OPEN DAY’ at Coastwatch House, with support from Exmouth RNLI who sent along their Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) to pay a visit. Exmouth NCI and Exmouth RNLI working together for one purpose - keeping everyone safe on and in the water.
The RNLI team were there to provide safety at sea information and to check lifejackets to ensure they were fit for purpose, as others enjoyed becoming RNLI members for the day!!! A visit from the paramedics was most welcome.
Taking place during the day was the Prince of Wales Cup for International 14 double-handed sailing dinghies hosted by the Exe Sailing Club.
Open Day - Saturday 12 May
Exmouth Coastwatch is holding an ‘OPEN DAY’ at Coastwatch House, adjacent to the Harbour View Cafe on Exmouth seafront on Saturday 12th May between 10.00 and 18.00 hrs. This is to celebrate 20 years serving the community, working with the Search and Rescue Services as the eyes, ears and voices along the coast. Come along and find out what Exmouth Coastwatch is all about - volunteers are always welcome.
Our colleagues from the RNLI will also be joining us, providing safety at sea information and, if you have one, bring along your lifejacket for testing to ensure it is fit for purpose. Also, if you have never seen it, the RNLI Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) will be alongside us for a visit.
The International 14 is a fast, exciting double-handed sailing dinghy. Originally built with wooden hulls, they are now carbon fibre machines with twin trapezes, asymmetric spinnakers and hydrofoils on their rudders. The Exe Sailing Club is hosting the prestigious Prince of Wales Cup on Saturday 12 May off Exmouth, beyond Pole Sands, starting at 1200.
Come along to the seafront to watch the racing and drop into Coastwatch House to find out more about Exmouth Coastwatch.
