Incident – Yacht Engine Failure

Pan Pan issued from yacht with engine failure near Fairway Buoy. Confirmed visual to HMCG but lost as rain closed in. Harbour Master en route to scene. Casualty in tow and shore bound. Pan Pan cancelled.

Incident – Motor Launch Engine Failure

Heard Pan Pan from motor launch with engine failure in Exe Estuary. NCI confirmed no visual on CCTV. Passing speedboat towed casualties to slipway. Pan Pan cancelled.

Incident – Yacht Aground

Heard Pan Pan from yacht aground in Exe Estuary. HMCG tasked ILB to scene. NCI confirmed sighting on CCTV. ILB heard confirming casualty aboard and en route to safety. Pan Pan cancelled.

Incident – Tender Semi-submerged

NCI informed Harbour Master of semi-submerged tender adjacent to slipway. NCI advised HMCG of potential hazard in main channel. Tender later beached and EDDC Beach Manager informed.

Incident – Kitsurfer at distance

Following call from MoP, HMCG asked NCI for sighting of kitesurfer reportedly a long way from shore at Orcombe Point. Two paddle boarders observed now on beach. HMCG advised also kitesurfer safely ashore.

Incident – Motor Launch Adrift

HMCG advised launch of ILB in search for reported motor launch with engine failure drifting towards rocks at Exmouth. NCI confirmed sighting on CCTV of stricken vessel at Budleigh beach. AWLB launched.  AWLB later observed with vessel in tow.

Incident – Yacht Aground

Advised HMCG of yacht aground on sandbank. Solent CG already aware and requested continued surveillance. Message received from yacht advising that crew abandoning vessel, to return later to refloat on rising tide. Apprised Lifeguards of situation. Yacht later refloated. Updated HMCG and Lifeguards.

Last night NCI Exmouth held a General Meeting at The Ocean where presentations were made by our Station Manager, Peter Oliver. to two of our members – a certificate and five year service badge to Nigel M, our Tower Officer, and a Certificate of Achievement to Peter W who qualified as a watchkeeper last month.
