Safe Water Mark Out of Position

Notice is hereby given that the Exe Estuary Safe Water Mark is out of position.

The Safe Water Mark will be put back on station when conditions allow.

Mariners are advised to navigate with caution in this area.

Incident – Wing Surfers Out of Sight

HMCG had tasked Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT) to locate one wing surfer. NCI reported to CG that actually two wing surfers had been observed. ILB launched. Two wing surfers now safe.

Incident – Windsurfer In Difficulty

Asked by CG to monitor windsurfer reportedly in difficulty. Confirmed to CG several windsurfers visible, none struggling. Continued to monitor. NFA.

Incident – Dinghy Capsized

Contacted HMCG to report dinghy adrift in channel, no obvious POB. Reported same to Harbour Master who confirmed tender reported missing. Lifeguards tasked to retrieve. HMCG updated.

Incident – Dinghy Engine Failure

Called HMCG and Lifeguard to advise dinghy with engine failure adrift in channel. Updated HMCG when RNLI PWC arrived on scene. CG advised ILB now tasked. ILB towed casualty to marina. Click here to view dinghy under tow (taken from lookout by Keith C).

Local Notice to Mariners 22/24

Exmouth Rowing Club Event – Langstone Approach

Notice is hereby given that Exmouth Rowing Club will be running a racing event on Saturday the 28th of September 2024.

The first race will begin at 10.00 and the final race will finish in the region of 16.30.

The start line will be upstream of Number 10, Port Lateral Mark. Racing craft will proceed down the navigational channel, with some races turning at the Safe Water and others proceeding south west to two racing marks out at sea. Please see below for further details of the race course.

In total five races will be run during the course of the day.

Masters of vessels are requested to keep clear of the racing in this area during the event.

Incident – Lost Kayakers

HMCG heard tasking ILB to search for two missing kayakers. Range Safety Boat confirmed visual and NCI continued monitoring. ILB on scene to pick up injured first casualty. Lifeguard PWC on scene to escort second casualty to safety. Ambulance on scene. NFA.

RM Family Day

The Exmouth NCI team attended the Royal Marines Family Day at Lympstone CTC. A great event meeting so many other organisations in this fantastic sunny weather.

Presentation – Brandon House

NCI Exmouth Presentation Team were invited to come along to Brandon House to talk to the residents and staff by their Activity Co-ordinator. The watchkeepers gave  a presentation about our charity and the history of the Exmouth lookout. They were updated with all the renovations we have undertaken for this winter and how the loss of Coastwatch House impacted on our activity and the work of our great team of volunteers who keep us operational, despite the ageing building.

Incident – Person Overboard

HMCG tasked ILB to attend reported person overboard from dinghy at Dawlish. NCI confirmed visual to CG who requested continue monitoring. ILB advised no danger to life and no assistance required.
