The Station Master Peter, and deputy John presented another John with his 10 year service certificate and badge. For much of those years John was also the webmaster, a task he now stands down from.
Incident: Kite surfer in difficulty
Watchkeepers were observing a kite surfer apparently in difficulty on the sand bank, a member of public also telephoned in to report. HMCG contacted who asked NCI to monitor, they also tasked the RNLI to launch the inshore lifeboat to assist.
Within 15 minutes the kite surfer was safely ashore.
Call from the public
Watchkeepers took a call from a member of the public concerned about what looked like surfers in difficulty in the sea at Budleigh. The watchkeepers used the CCTV to zoom in and were able to report that what looked like people was flags attached to a buoy.
Many thanks for the person that phoned in, better safe than sorry.

Safe Water Mark Light Reinstated. Top Mark Missing.
Date: 6th February 2025
Notice is hereby given that the ‘Exe’ Safe Water Mark (position below) light is reinstated.
The top mark (with ball symbol) on the navigation buoy was washed away in recent storms
and will be replaced as soon as possible.
