Heard Mayday on radio from “Albion Diver”. In the absence of any response, called HMCG to ensure it had been picked up. NFA.
Incident – Inflatable Adrift
Unmanned inflatable observed in shipping channel and reported by MoP. HMCG and Lifeguards contacted and NCI continued to monitor channel for signs of casualty. CRT retrieved inflatable. NFA.
Incident – RIB Aground
Following report of grounded RIB, HMCG contacted NCI for information. NCI confirmed vessel drift fishing in channel and in no danger. ILB launched to investigate. NFA.
Incident – Kite Surfers in Distress?
Following call by MoP, NCI requested by HMCG to locate two kite surfers reportedly in difficulty. Located casualties who appeared competent. Continued to monitor. NFA.
Incident – Paddleboarder Injured
NCI observed one paddleboarder flat on board and not moving with assistance being given by fellow member of group. Lifeguard contacted and requested to attend. Casualty with dislocated shoulder brought safely to shore. Air ambulance on scene.
Incident – Paddleboarder Stranded
MoP called HMCG to report paddleboarder apparently in distress on Pole Sands. NCI confirmed sighting to HMCG. No danger, just carrying board overhead. ILB already in area and sent to check. Follow up calls received from RNLI Boathouse and Lifeguards.
Incident – Yacht Aground
Pan Pan from yacht aground on Pole Sands. NCI confirmed sighting to HMCG and gave position. ILB launched and secured tow line. Vessel towed back to Exmouth.
Incident – Motor Boat Loss of Power
Requested by HMCG to locate white motor vessel with engine failure in mouth of River Exe. Advised HMCG no sighting with optics or CCTV. Location confirmed as mouth of River Axe. ILB launched. Vessel towed back to Exmouth.
Incident – Jet Ski Grounding/Engine Failure
NCI monitoring jet ski grounded on sand bank. MoP advised engine failure. HMCG & RNLI Lifeguards advised by NCI. Both casualties, wearing buoyancy aids, returned to shore by RNLI Lifeguards jet ski. NCI advised Harbour Master of abandoned jet ski on sand bank. Jet ski later recovered to the beach.
Incident – Smoking Fishing Vessel
Watchkeepers observed fishing vessel 155 degrees, 2nm from lookout, with smoke coming from stern. Advised HMCG who requested NCI maintain observation and report any changes. Fishing vessel later on the move. No further smoke from stern.
