The Coastal Water Safety Team at Exmouth have had a busy weekend .
Saturday was Organ Donation day on the Strand in town. There was music with the local radio station ‘Devonaire’ on site, entertaining and interviewing stall holders all morning.
A busy day with many people asking about local conditions and leaving clutching leaflets and other give aways on water safety. Our CWS Officer , Karen, couldn’t resist a dance with a duck !! An enjoyable, profitable and worthwhile day .
Sunday the team were off to Ladram Bay.
This was an excellent opportunity to talk to paddle boarders, kayakers, and small craft users. We gave out a lot of waterproof identification stickers and phone pouches. This is a private beach attached to a caravan site so all users were holiday makers many of whom were unfamiliar with our local conditions . Families were grateful for the information we gave about keeping safe and the children loved the wristbands and the activity booklets. It was an extremely busy day so many parents took advantage of the wristbands by writing on their telephone numbers with an indelible pen in case the children got lost. There has recently been a large cliff fall at this location so this gave the opportunity to talk to people about Coastal Walking and awareness of sitting in a safe place on the beach.
