Recent severe storms caused considerable damage to Coastwatch House………………
The building was used for a prolonged period as a first aid hut for the St John’s Ambulance Brigade and, thanks to EDDC, was leased to NCI Exmouth about 10 years ago and was renamed as Coastwatch House (CWH). It has been used since then for training NCI watchkeepers, meetings, events and as a backup lookout should the Tower be unavailable for maintenance etc.
After a survey it was decided that CWH should be demolished – work began yesterday and continued today………….
And then there was nothing………
Coastwatch House will be sorely missed by all at NCI Exmouth and the team will be actively searching for suitable local accommodation to continue training etc.
